All hourly reservations carry a 3-hour minimum. Hourly displays and complete-duration estimates are rounded separately; do not multiply the rounded hourly display to price a trip. Rates shown are starting floors; a specific date, vehicle or itinerary may quote above them.

The rules behind the rate

  • Hourly service has a three-hour minimum. The display rate and complete-duration estimate are rounded separately; request a revised full-trip quote for extensions.
  • Airport transfers need the exact itinerary. A calculator minimum is not a BWI, DCA or IAD fare.
  • Published hourly estimates include gratuity and applicable service/card charges; confirm the final total and any trip-specific extras in your written quote.
  • Confirm tolls, parking, airport charges, waiting, stops and cancellation terms in the written quote for your trip.
  • Vehicle availability, equipment and pickup arrangements require confirmation for the requested date and location.

How Baltimore airport car service pricing is structured

There are two pricing models on this site and it is worth being clear about which one applies to your trip, because mixing them up is the most common reason a quote looks wrong. Hourly reservations are billed against the schedule above on a 3-hour minimum. Point-to-point airport transfers are quoted as a single figure for the journey and are not billed hourly at all.

The distinction matters financially. A transfer from BWI Marshall to a hotel in Harbor East is roughly a thirty-minute drive on a normal afternoon. Billing that as a three-hour hourly block would be absurd, so it is not how it is quoted. It is priced as one trip, with the airport pickup, the waiting allowance, the tolls and the drop-off all folded into one number you approve before you travel.

Hourly hire exists for a genuinely different job: when the vehicle and chauffeur stay with you. A day of meetings across downtown Baltimore, Towson and Columbia. A wedding party that needs three coordinated movements. A medical appointment at Johns Hopkins where nobody can predict when you will be released. A visiting executive with four stops and an unknown finish time. In those cases you are not buying a distance, you are buying availability, and the hourly rate is what availability costs.

If you are unsure which applies, describe the trip in plain language on the quote form and dispatch will price it under whichever model is cheaper for the shape of the day. There is no advantage on this end to pushing you into the more expensive structure.

What is included in an hourly rate

Published hourly estimates include gratuity and applicable service/card charges. Confirm the final total and any trip-specific extras in your written quote.

Confirm tolls, airport access fees, parking, stops and waiting in the written trip quote. The calculation alone does not establish every route-specific charge.

Published hourly estimates already include gratuity. Check the final quote before adding any optional amount.

The 3-hour minimum applies from the scheduled pickup time, not from when you actually walk out. If you booked a 9:00am pickup and appear at 9:20, the clock started at nine. That is standard across the chauffeured segment and it exists because the vehicle was committed to you from nine onward and could not be sold to anybody else.

Choosing the vehicle class against the real cost

The gap between the executive sedan at $120 per hour and the Sprinter at $240 is large enough that vehicle selection is the single biggest lever you have on the final number. Most people over-specify.

The sedan handles three passengers and two large cases comfortably. For a solo business traveler or a couple arriving at BWI with normal luggage, it is the correct answer and anything larger is money spent on air. Where the sedan fails is bag volume: a family of three with four checked cases will not fit, and discovering that at the curb on the lower level is a bad evening for everyone.

The premium SUV at $150 is the workhorse. Up to five passengers, four to five large cases, a high seating position that older passengers find easier to get in and out of, and enough room that a child seat does not consume the whole back row. If there is any doubt between sedan and SUV, the SUV is usually the right hedge, the hourly difference is thirty dollars, and a second vehicle dispatched to fix a luggage miscalculation costs far more than that.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class at $230 is not a capacity upgrade. It carries the same three passengers as the sedan. You are paying for the specific car, and the honest use cases are narrow: collecting a client you are trying to impress, board-level travel where the vehicle is read as a signal, and occasions where the ride itself is part of the event. For an airport run where nobody is watching, it is a discretionary spend and it will not get you there any faster.

The Sprinter at $240 looks expensive per hour until you divide it. Up to twelve passengers and cruise-scale luggage in one vehicle replaces several smaller vehicles, chauffeurs and arrival times to reconcile. For cruise transfers out of South Locust Point and for corporate teams landing together at BWI, the Sprinter is frequently the cheaper option as well as the saner one.

Airport transfer quotes: what actually moves the number

Point-to-point airport quotes are built from a short list of variables, and knowing them lets you predict roughly where a quote will land before you ask.

Distance and expected duration do most of the work. A BWI run to downtown Baltimore, Inner Harbor or the Hopkins medical campus is a short trip and prices accordingly. Annapolis via I-97 is meaningfully further. Washington DC down the BW Parkway is a corridor run of an hour or more each way in normal conditions and is priced as such. Dulles is the longest of the common airport pairings and is priced above the DCA equivalent for that reason alone.

Vehicle class applies the same multiplier logic as the hourly table, a Sprinter transfer to the cruise terminal costs more than the same trip in a sedan.

Pickup method has a modest effect. Curbside collection on the BWI lower level is the default and is included. A meet-and-greet, where the chauffeur parks, walks into the terminal and waits in baggage claim with a name sign, involves parking fees and additional chauffeur time and carries a supplement. It is worth it for clients, elderly passengers, unaccompanied minors and anyone arriving in an unfamiliar city at night, and it is unnecessary for a frequent traveler with a carry-on.

Stops and hold time are the other two. A quick stop at an office on the way from the airport to a hotel is quoted as an addition rather than triggering a new trip. An extended hold, the vehicle waiting an hour while you take a meeting, is usually the point at which switching to hourly hire becomes cheaper, and dispatch will say so rather than quietly billing the more expensive structure.

The displayed estimates do not include a separate peak-time charge. Confirm the actual date, vehicle availability and full itinerary quote before travel.

Waiting time and flight tracking

Confirm flight-delay handling, the waiting start, included allowance and any additional charge in the written quote. Keep the operator informed when passenger-ready time changes.

If baggage claim, customs or another delay changes your ready time, contact the operator. Confirm how that change affects the pickup and charges.

Cancellations, changes and how to keep the cost down

Cancellation terms are confirmed in writing with each quote because they vary by trip type, a sedan airport transfer and a multi-vehicle cruise group are not the same commitment. As a general rule, the further ahead you cancel, the less it costs, and same-day cancellations on committed vehicles carry a charge because the slot cannot be resold.

Changes are different from cancellations and are treated as such. Moving a pickup time, changing a drop-off address, adding a passenger or swapping vehicle class before the day of travel is normally just a re-quote, not a penalty. The system is designed to absorb itinerary changes, because itinerary changes are the ordinary condition of travel rather than an exception.

The practical levers on cost, in order of impact: pick the smallest vehicle that genuinely fits the passengers and the bags; use point-to-point pricing for straightforward airport runs rather than defaulting to hourly; consolidate a group into one vehicle instead of two; skip meet-and-greet if you are a confident traveler with hand luggage; and give dispatch the accurate bag count the first time so nothing has to be corrected with a second car.

Request the vehicle early enough to confirm availability. A published estimate alone does not hold a car for a particular date or time.

Comparing quotes between operators

Chauffeured transportation quotes are difficult to compare because operators structure them differently, and the headline hourly figure is frequently the least informative number in the document. Three specific things are worth checking on any quote, including this one.

First compare the complete written totals with the same inclusions. Adding a percentage to a rate that already contains it creates a false comparison.

The second is what happens to tolls, parking and airport fees. Ask each operator whether those costs are included or separate, and compare totals for the same route and pickup arrangement.

The third is the waiting policy, which is where quotes diverge most and where travelers get caught. Sixty minutes free on a domestic arrival measured from actual wheels-down is a materially different product from fifteen minutes measured from the scheduled landing time, and the second one turns a modest delay into a billable event. It is worth reading that clause specifically rather than assuming the industry has a standard.

Beyond those, the questions that matter are whether the minimum applies to airport transfers or only to hourly hire, whether there is a surge or peak component of any kind, and what a cancellation actually costs at various notice periods. An operator that answers all of those plainly in writing before you book is telling you something useful about how the rest of the relationship will go.

Pricing questions

How much does a Baltimore airport car service cost per hour?

Published hourly floors are $120 for an executive sedan, $150 for a premium SUV, $230 for a Mercedes-Benz S-Class and $240 for a Sprinter van, all on a 3-hour minimum. Point-to-point airport transfers are quoted per itinerary rather than hourly.

Is there a minimum booking time?

Yes, hourly reservations carry a 3-hour minimum, counted from the scheduled pickup time. Airport transfers quoted point to point have no hourly minimum, because they are priced as a single journey.

Do you charge surge pricing at peak times?

The displayed estimates do not include a separate peak-time charge. Confirm the final date-specific quote and vehicle availability.

Are tolls and airport fees included in the quote?

Ask whether tolls, parking and airport fees are included in the written quote or charged separately. Confirm the complete total for your route before booking.

Is gratuity included?

Published hourly estimates include gratuity. Review the final quote before adding any optional amount.

How much free waiting time do I get at BWI?

Confirm the waiting start, included allowance, billing increment and price for your exact pickup in writing.

What happens to my rate if my flight is delayed?

Share the operating airline and inbound flight number. Ask how delays, diversions, cancellations, customs and baggage timing affect pickup and charges.

Is a Sprinter cheaper than booking several SUVs?

Compare complete quotes for the same trip. A Sprinter display rate starts at $240 per hour, but the assigned seating, luggage fit and full trip total determine whether one van is a suitable alternative to several vehicles.

Do you offer flat rates to Washington DC?

Corridor runs to Washington are quoted as a single figure for the journey rather than metered, so you approve one number before traveling. The figure depends on the exact addresses, the vehicle class and whether the vehicle waits.

Can I get a corporate account with consolidated billing?

Yes. Companies booking recurring BWI transfers or executive travel can be set up with account billing so individual travelers do not handle payment at the curb. Mention it on the quote request.
